Grant Description
Grants of up to $5,000 to USA physician assistants for projects to promote health care for underserved communities. Priority will be given to projects that have an innovative design, foster collaboration and partnerships, and emphasize direct patient education, care, or impact.

Kathy J. Pedersen, MPAS, PA-C, has dedicated her career to promoting equitable health care for all. Her legacy includes an annual, competitive grant to equip PAs with funding for projects that strive to follow in her footsteps.

Grantees display a commitment to equitable care built on innovative, actionable strategies to sustainably improve public health needs. Applicants are challenged to design programs that bring equitable care into the mainstream, bridge system gaps, foster cultural humility, advocate for the underserved, or otherwise develop resources for those in need.

Objectives:

  • To promote innovative, actionable strategies that directly and sustainably impact documented healthcare disparities
  • To advance PA awareness, knowledge, and capacity to foster social accountability, public health awareness, and equitable care
  • To foster cultural humility for diverse populations, including raising awareness of implicit bias and social justice
  • To position PAs as leaders in advocating for the underserved and creatively seeking resources to support the care for all

Priority will be given to proposals that:

  • Demonstrate original or innovative design to address community or public health needs.
  • Foster partnerships through interprofessional or inter-organizational collaboration.
  • Emphasize direct patient care, education, or impact.
  • Align to the nccPA Health Foundation’s mission, strategic goals, and values.
